Issue
Puppy or dog gets carsick.
Training Tip
Have him ride in his crate, which is a safe place for him to be and may help him feel secure. Covering the crate with an old sheet calms some excitable dogs. At the least, a doggie seat belt should be used to keep you and your pooch safe in case of a fender
bender.
About 15 minutes before you leave, feed him a ginger snap or sprinkle some ginger powder on a few treats or crackers for him. Provide him something fun and distracting to do in the crate, like working some cheese whiz out of a hollowed out bone or Groove Thing toy.
Sometimes dogs worry about the car because it predicts a trip to the vet, which can be stressful. So, go on a bunch of short car trips. Once a day would be great, it'll just take a few minutes each time. Drive down the driveway, then he gets to go for a walk. Drive around the block, then you play with him in your yard. Drive down the road, and he meets a dog friend for play, drive up the street and he gets to explore a neighbor's yard, etc.
